Boubyan Bank – Data Warehouse Migration
Migration of the Sybase data warehouse to a Cloudera Hadoop-based ODS, Erwin-based modelling, and development of an MSSQL Enterprise DWH.
As part of Boubyan Bank Data Transformation Program, I contributed to the modernization of the existing Sybase IQ-based data warehouse and distributed physical data mart landscape into a Cloudera Hadoop / Data Lake-based ODS architecture. I was responsible for source system analysis, Erwin-based data modelling, ETL development, data validation and reporting-related developments across the migration and transformation lifecycle.
I contributed to the development of an Enterprise Data Warehouse on MSSQL, designed in line with the Inmon methodology and 3rd Normal Form principles. My responsibilities included designing and developing data flows across staging, curated and EDW layers, supporting standardized banking data models and enabling regulatory, finance, risk, corporate and customer analytics reporting requirements.
For 1.5 years, I actively worked with Informatica Data Engineering Integration, MSSQL, Sybase IQ, Cloudera Hadoop ecosystem and BI/reporting platforms such as Power BI and SAP BO. I supported the consolidation of fragmented data marts into a centralized EDW architecture, standardization of staging processes, reduction of data redundancy and improvement of enterprise reporting capabilities.
I also contributed to sustainable ETL delivery by following Informatica DEI development standards, naming conventions, parameterization, versioning, deployment and CI/CD practices. The project adopted a DevOps-oriented delivery approach using Informatica DEI, Jenkins, Jira and Bitbucket to support controlled development, testing and deployment processes.
